Millicom is a leading provider of cable, mobile and high-speed broadband services, dedicated to emerging markets in Latin America and Africa. Besides these markets, Millicom is also growing into the Sports and Mobile wallet arenas as the pioneers to provide these services in LATAM. I’ve worked with headquarters in Coral Gables since 2017 specializing in digital transformation of all their processes including B2B and B2C products such as Tigo Money, Tigo Shop, Tigo Sports, Home Activator, and Pre to Pos processes.

In 2020 alone, we launched: One App in 4 countries. Pagos Express like Recargas, facturas B2B and international, in 7 countries. Best Supermarket to offer HBO and Fox to 6 counties. And Tigo Money to 3 countries. On the B2B arena we designed and coded Home Activator for 2 countries and Mi Tienda for 5 additional countries.

Tigo Sports acts both as a broadcast and a content provider in Latin America. Originally just a sports channel but after several years, we’ve established the brand as a major team and event sponsor at national and regional levels. I helped create the initial Tigo Sports app to watch games live, follow statistics, and the latest sports news. Currently, the brand is exploring adding a quiniela to the app, and I’m in charge of market research, features exploration, and preliminary designs.

Many customers in Latin America have limited access to the more traditional banking services so the demand for a MFS like Tigo Money is high. Services offered currently include money transfers, interest-earning mobile money accounts, micro-credit, payments, and billing.

I participated in UI improvements and the development of the virtual card experience. Currently, we are working on worldwide mobile wallet benchmarks to help grow the brand and improve user experience.

During 2020, I was part of a big effort to unify platforms and countries that had completely different experiences for the same processes. I worked with third-party developers to create Mi Tigo, a unified platform where users can do all their “self-service” activities in one place, such as checking their plan usage, purchasing plans, reviewing services, getting technical support, and even providing feedback.

After a lot of testing, and trial and error, we managed to deploy to 4 countries with great success.
